Nasdaq falls as investors sell high-flying growth stocks ahead of Powell speech


Wall Street’s main indexes opened lower on Tuesday as investors sold off high-flying growth stocks on valuation concerns ahead of Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell‘s testimony before Congress.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 99.8 points, or 0.32%, at the open to 99.69. The S&P 500 fell 38.4 points, or 1.01%, to 3,837.54, while the Nasdaq Composite dropped 391.4 points, or 2.91%, to 13,139.30 at the opening bell.
